Is it wrong if I kind of dig Al Jazeera?

And if it’s wrong, do I want to be right? Probably not. It’s always good to get a different point of view, and I like to see their perspective on various situations.
Which is the same reason that I read the New York Post. No, that is a lie. This is why I read the New York Post.
In any case, Al Jazeera is often a must-read for me, and from there, I generally head to the BBC, which reported this oddity today. (I saw it elsewhere, also–but, hey, I like the BBC.)
Then, ultimately, I ended up here, which was a short hop to my all-time favorite photo of President Bush. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Arguably, though, that one shot sums up the man’s entire Presidency. (And–it’s not a purse, damn it!)
On my travels, I also came across this article, which I thought was very cool, indeed. Although I suppose the case could be made that it will be even more cool when people no longer write articles about such things. But, it reminded me of this story from last year. And then, suddenly, I ended up here. Oh, goodness me.
So. Is the Internet the biggest time-suck there is in the history of the world, or what?
And, I am sorry to say, Ebay is the Devil’s Tool.
Big game tomorrow night. Wicked big game. Can’t wait.

An interesting observation made about Al Jazeera is that: right from its inception is the prominent presence of women as news anchors and reporters. No channel in the Arab World has given voice, visibility and weight to women than Al Jazeera. It is just a year since it started its transmissions in English but already the smartest of the telecast world’s stars shine in the new channel’s constellation.
A news organization that has its roots in the Middle East where the status of women is under valued and yet it demonstrated its willingness to showcase women in roles of responsibility and authority. Going global will hopefully demystify certain arcane views about the Arab women as solely house and husband bound! “
At the 12th Asian Television Awards, Kylie Grey - Orange was announced the winner on November 29 in Singapore for Best Single News/Report, for Al Jazeera English’s bureau in Malaysia.
Besides, Al Jazeera English was also nominated for awards at the One World Media awards in the categories of Broadcast Journalist of the Year: Nadene Ghour; Popular Features: 48 in Damascus, Amanda Palmer
Producer Nadene Ghouri is winning laurels for making an outstanding documentary. It is impressive how she manages very young children to speak to the viewers about their pains and suffering. One could also see symptoms of recovery amidst signs of healing and hope. This documentary lets us see through the children’s eyes some of the world’s most devastated societies. The documentary allows the viewer to peek into the tormented lives of young boys and girls braving the challenge of growing up in tensions not of their making.
If you take the pilot show of Amanda Palmer’s program “48″. What she and her crew have accomplished in Damascus in just 48 hours is amazing in terms of richness. They packed delicate yet diverse issues such as inter-faith harmony, women’s life, private entrepreneurs and youth culture in Damascus. It was miles ahead of what a viewer can find in a similar monthly program elsewhere (e.g. CNN’s Inside the Middle East).
Palmer’s “Fabulous Picture Showâ€, is a treasure chest of what’s hot in the new media from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and beyond, surpassing BBC’s Talking Movies. Other viewers will come up with many pleasant surprises if they indulge in viewing a program or two on AJE. The story of Israel’s first Arab Film Institute by Amanda Palmer on FPS was outstanding and so is her ‘48’.
Since its launch Al Jazeera English has proved to be a unique news channel, winning nomination in recognition of its quality and technical accomplishments of its female professional in particular.
Current Affairs observers in US may regret what they and their compatriots are missing out from AJE the new initiative in global news. Al Jazeera English’s content is packaged with meaningful, real life and pragmatic issues. Those who ask for scuttling the new Aljazeera English channel is like calling to throw the baby away with the bath water. I wonder how we end up in our cherished aim to promote free expression in places where it needs much support.

I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am after reading Long May She Reign. I had no clue you had done another book, and was perusing BN.com when I came across your new book and ordered it straight away. I have been a fan of your writing for a long time. You create such real characters, real women who are strong enough to fight everything from the everyday occurences to the big battles, and I am completely enamored. I hope you will continue on with some of the character’s you have created. I would love to see another Beverly/Derek book or Rebecca/Michael. Perhaps I would especially like to read another story about Meg, maybe six years down the road when she’s come into her own, and mom’s last term is over, so she and Preston can begin a relationship, which I truly believe will happen because they have such a natural and loving relationship. I would even love to see how ambitious Meg is… if she will follow in her mother’s footsteps and what her and Preston’s child/ren would be like. Anyway, I really do hope you keep going wih some of these stories, because I feel like you still have so much left to tell and so much of the character’s lives to still play out. I hope you enjoy writing these stories as much as I enjoy reading them. Well, now that I’m sure I’ve sufficiently bored you I will just say thank you and I hope the Patriots played well if that is the team you support.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the book. (I don’t always remember to check the comments section; sorry about that. Mostly, I just check the message board.)
No idea what I’ll be writing next–although I have various ideas, I will concede.
And yes, I love those Patriots!
